Hello everybody,
in one of the postings of the forum I read a mention about native FSX support being developed. Will that also include FS2004? Regards |

FSX uses SimConnect, which is a nice clean documented interface for control input. FS2004 doesn't use SimConnect, it needs a custom dll, a bit of black magic. Don't hold your breath.
You can use PPJoy as an alternative, create a virtual joystick device, calibrate it and assign the axes to the view controls in FS2004.

Hi Kestrel,
that is what I am doing right now (TIR2Joy+PPJoy). I thought something cleaner would come with direct support. Are the developers considering spending time with FS2004? FSX will take time still to fully replace FS2004 all around due to hardware requirements, compatibility with add-ons, etc. |

Hi !
I know FS2004 could be interfaced with FSUIPC.dll, but it's not as clean as simconnect interface... Rémy |

Hi didja,
I suppose that is the only way, and the the module would act much like ActiveCamera or Walk&Follow. Regards. |

You don't need to use TIR2Joy with Freetrack 2.0, it interfaces directly when the PPJoy output option is checked.
Thanks for the info, will look into it. |

Hi
I had a look to FSUIPC but it not free. FDSConnection (www.flightdecksoftware.com) provides sources and SDK but all the links are broken |

FSUIPC is partially free. There are two versions, one free and one registered. I don´t know if the features needed by Freetrack would be in the free version.
It has a quite well documented SDK, with examples. http://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/FSUIPC_SDK.zip |

Hi, indeed. And if anyone interested gets in touch with Peter Dowson (author of FSUIPC) I'm almost sure he will assist in anything he can. Best regards, Jorge |

According to the user guide FSUIPC is free for apps like Freetrack: "(Commercial and shareware products pay a fee or subscription. All genuine freeware programs get free access keys on application)." But the FSUIPC 4.16 docs don't describe any variables for writing the viewport position and oriention, only reading. |
