Hey guys

Couple of questions for you smart bunch of Free-trackers  :fear:

1) What is best way to prevent FT from crashing, if say I need to get up and go get something to drink while in a game or have to look away from the screen enough that the points drop.

Mine tends to crash, but I know there must be a way to prevent this. Any ideas?

2) Since I play IL-2 mainly with Free-Track which is 2 DOF. I disabled all other axis. But I recently started trying to get those working correctly as well since I am going to get a more recent flight sim with 6 DOF. My question is what is best way to prevent movement such as LEFT RIGHT slide when just yawing? or rise and duck when pitching? My head is not moving very much at all and it is taking into account like I am really sliding head left or right. I have tried different settings with hwo much movment is required but can't get a good setup where it tracks those axis correctly. Any ideas???

Thanks guys
Talk to yall soon.

Also is there a DONATIONS area, me and my dad were going to donate to you guys.

Hello,

I saw on another post that you have a 3 Dots Cap. You can try my setup, but it's for a 3 Dots Clip, so addapt an modify it to match your taste.

Copy & paste the config in a txt file, save it under your profile folder as a fgp file. Select it in your profile list.

First of all :

To prevent freetrack crash :

- Use a fresh install of freetrack !
- you can use "reset" to delete freetrack.ini  if you have a problem
- Use lasted directX 9.0c release
- Closed all webcam applications when you used freetrack (like MSN Messenger  for example ...)
- put a filter on your webcam (a magnetic disk like floppy disk)
- Use good IR LED  for best tracking (bad unwanted light can made a crash of freetrack because of CPU usage ...)

To answer to your question :
Try to reduce X,Y translation curves and X,Y axis sensibilities to reduce unwanted  translation during yaw mouvement. (made a small deadzone at start to prevent small mouvement of your head ...)

I find FreeTrack crashes when points intersect well beyond what an extreme head movement would produce... like when you leave position with tracking still on, as you detailed above.  Map a 'pause' button on your stick or keyboard and pause tracking when you leave the cockpit.  Worked for me.....

This is closer to what I was talking about.

It does not crash at all during normal play but if I need to get up and go to the kitchen or open the front door or do anything away from the computer for a sec and don't STOP FT then it will crash.

So a pause key would be what I need. I am guessing it is in the "key" section??

As far as my build. I am now on a 3 point clip PSY so I will give your settings a shot.

Thanks again you bunch of  :fear:
:) later guys

Yes, but I'm using 3pt cap so its to be expected.  I just pay attention to yaw a bit more, and started plans for a 3pt clip.....

1)  Go to Keys menu and under tracking insert a keystroke to Pause it when you go for your drink.

That's odd - FT never crashed for me - not if there were too little points visible, not if there were too much of them. I use a reflective 3-point cap and FT sometimes loses track of some points, and  if i get really close to the camera, FT sees too many points, but it never crashes, the tray icon just turns red and game point of view stops moving for a moment. But a moment later it's all fine again. If i set averaging to more frames (i normally use only 2 frames average) i don't even notice anything in the game. When i need to get away from the computer i don't even pause FT and it works fine when i come back. It was the same when i used a 4 point cap - no crashes at all.

Try changing the camera codec to I420 if you have such option (in the dialog opened with "stream" button - next to camera settings button) - it might help, i read something about crashes when using RGB compression

Hey HOTSHOT, check your six

There is a 6DOF MOD for IL2 (the old and 1946) it WORKS wonders for that game. -, AND it can be DE-Activated. Your flying will newer be the same agagain.

On the CRASHing part, It is worked out in FT version 2,2 (so it will accept loss of one or two LEDs, without going NAN-error and Freeze). -so we wait, patiently.

6DOF; It's right here, http://allaircraftarcade.com (why buy another game) -find 6DOF servers on that site too.

You wil have to install these (in that order)
MOD ACTIVATOR

Yea blind I am on IL-2 forums and on AAC all the time but never got the 6DOF mod because of the false virus being picked up by virus scanners. Plus the squad I fly with won't get it so I just never went out and got it. BUT I also was not aware you can  DE-Activated it. So that might have me interested to try when I am flying alone.

But I am stuck on SINS OF A SOLAR EMPIRE. It is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

But thanks for the heads up brother

Later bro
