So i decided to make my own Headtracker and wanted to ask some questions.

I gonna buy these LEDs: SFH485P

1. I want to mount them on my Creative HS-1200 and connect the LEDs with a switch to the battery of the Headset. What do i Need?

Specs are: Input 5V 0.5A

2. Do i have to build antlers to mount the LEDs on?

Hope we can mae it ;)

Hi,

have a look at this:

...be aware that the batteries do not last very long.

Yes, you need at least two arms to get correct dimensions between the LEDs.
Something like this for example:

yeah i know but my headset can be used with cable too.
so when i want to use tracking i just plugin the cable into the headset and so there is no energy problem.

ok so i have to build it serial...

i have to give them 50-75mA

my Headset got 0.5A = 50mA so do i have to add resistors??

and if i want to add a switch is there any problem with?

Hi,

0.5A = 500mA
...what they given is the max. current of an USB port when used exclusively by the headset.
I think it's not such a good idea to connect the mount on the headset.
If it's a wireless that recharge with USB cable it means that you got some kind of batterie charger inbuild. You have to make sure that you do not use more than 500mA when using the batterie charger and the headmount at the same time. Otherwise you risk to damage your motherboard.
Same when connecting the LEDs, wrong wired, and your motherboard is gone. You have to be sure what to do.
You can get usb power adaptor under ten bucks, (unless you already got one for your mobile or whatever), making it more simply, (no need for PTC fuse).
You need a resistor in any case.

let me look up his specs:

2.200 mAh LI-Io Accu
loads at 800mA max.

this one: http://www.pearl.de/a-PX1591-1420.shtml

which resistor do i need. tried the wizard but it wont work for me

whenever i hit enter all values disappear

thanks for the informations so i only need 3x Led and 1x Resistor.

Are there any dimensin rules for the distances between the leds? if i like to make it like on the picture Steph posted: http://imgur.com/Vpwhv0W

thats that what i like to build

Hi,

stay within this dimensions -/+20mm is fine. You can setup any deviations under model dimensions and position later on.

Make sure that when turning your head about 30° in any direction does not cover one of the LEDs.
