Currently looking at two auctions on ebay and these two look promising.
What do you think, based of this description: The two tyoes od ps3 Eye lenses First: Second: I have a tendency to one of them: SpoilerI think its the first one although it looks less used. The lense looks darker and overall more like the good one on the linked website. Also the last one has a slight "red" reflection like the bad one from the example page. But what do I know..

You may be right. Try to ask the seller directly?

From the username it looks like the vendor is a young girl.
I don't think I get any info about curved lenses out of her. Price was under 10 bucks so .. it's on the way now

Yes the description it´s good. The good ones have dark optics.
I destroyed my first bad Ps3 trying to remove the lenses, it had a lot of glue in the thread and was impossible to unscrew. Now it´s waiting until i can replace the optics with a m12 mount. Last week I purchased in a surplus store in my city an another used bad one Ps3 Eye and a PS2 Toy namtai SCEH-0004 for 10 euros. In This little camera it´s very easy to remove the Ir filter despite it don´t have a lot of FPS. Next week i have to buy Osram leds and electronics for the clip. As a IR filter i will use a small red window that was placed on the top of the Ir sensor in a death TV, It´s very dark and red but Ir light pass through.

Look to be quite honest, i don't think you need to worry about the model. I purchased the 'bad' one which is almost impossible to remove the lens. I found that just a simple piece of photo negative (blackened) over the lens was fine. I just turned up the gain in free track and it picks up my dim IRs just fine. All it requires is 2 mins of finding the right settings in the ps3 eye software that you dl'd (adjusting the color intensities etc). Good luck.
