I made a 3-point model based on Track Clip Pro, and I noticed when I finished making a (cardboard) prototype I found out the microphone of my headset is dangerously close to the lowest IR-LED, which might cause it to get blocked.
My question is as follows: Is it possible to attach the clip on right side of the headset, and if it is, are there any options in FreeTrack software I need to change? Would love to know this, as I am on the final stretch of the building phase and I was thinking of attaching the battery holder to the clip itself. |

Okay, I got it working, and it turns out it seems to work okay on the right side too. However, when I try to look down, the software seems to follow it very lazily, if at all. Looking up works just fine though. Could it be because the lower LED is further out in front than the top one? Using more or less accurate Track Clip Pro dimensions from another forum thread. Or could it be that my camera needs to be positionet higher? Or lower? I don't know anymore, I can't think in mirror
(Sorry for replying to my own message, but the editing option was no longer available to me) (EDIT: I see the edit option now, I must be blind, my most sincere apologies for spamming)

Hi SoanoS,
yes, I don't think there is any limitation for that. You only have to correctly fill in the "model position": This is for the left side: So the H-Value has to be negativ for a right side mount... ...and only the "Horizontal" slider has to be pushed to the right side into negativ values like this: (You have to measure and fill up your own settings!) |

Thank you for the info, and thank you for the measurement table too. It looks like I need to do some measurements.
I am still at a "prototype" stage (the body fo the clip is made of cardboard), but the measurements of the clip are more or less finished. I was thinking of using velcro to attach the clip to my headset, but I still need to figure out how to even out the curve on it because it is very round on the side where the clip will attach. I am using a Logitech HD Webcam C270, and it seems I don' t even need a visible light filter to make things work. However, any white spots on the background and on the model seem to give me some false readings. Do I need to cover my 30ohm resistors (I am using parallel SFH485P LEDs with 3V battery power) if I am not using a visible light filter (piece of floppy)? They seemed to heat up a little in use, and I understood that heat is IR radiation. |

No, you don't need to cover the resistors
These are wavelength from 3,5 to 15 µm that a normal webcam do not detect. But its better to use a daylight filter, to be more independent from any light conditions. |
