I was just wondering, if I wanted to use a cap-style reflector setup, could I just mount 3 SFH485P on my monitor/TV to produce the IR to reflect back to my camera (PS3 Eye) or would I need a different kind of LED for that?

If it's for indirect IR-light you can use any other IR-LEDs you can find.
Look for the ones with high radiant intensity. Or this kind of IR-spot: http://www.conrad.fr/projecteur_ir_p_48674_49477_839780_209899_FAS In my opinion just three LEDs will not be enough for it. You have to find good reflection material also. Try and give us news. |

What is "good reflective material"?

Sorry, I don't know the right term in English.
Kind of reflective tape you can found on safety vests. I use this one on kites for night-flying and it's works very good. IMO it must be working for a reflective head-mount also. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Marine/Home/Products/Catalog/?PC_7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE20S4K7000000_nid=6RN6Q9VG0QbeXFHSXSN3Z1gl |

Thanks for the tips. I'll look at getting something bigger/more powerful like that IR-spot then. |

Hm, what's the IR-source? |

Bought the one from conrad.
Might be the filter, I'm using a floppydisk. I still have to try overexposed film. |

If you have one of this 3d glasses with red and green plastic films (they often comes with 3d films in a DVD box) you can put the red above green in front of the webcam. This is a very effective filter. If its not enough put a third layer of green or red.
