Class : Apprenti Posts : 7 Registered on : 17/12/2009 Off line	Hello everyone...I'm hoping to get a fairly quick answer if possible....I'm wondering how many of you out there are using a Trackclip Pro rather than a homemade setup. Does the Trackclip work well with Freetrack or are there issues? Does it work better than the homemade setups or should I just go ahead and build one... And lastly...I CANNOT find 1/4w 30ohm resistors anywhere local...so can someone recommend another set up? I don't know much about resistors and diodes and stuff.. I have 3 radioshack IR LED's.. they are 1.28 V and 100 mA If I use a 9v battery the wizard said to use a 56 ohm resistor in a series... is this a good set up or would there be a better one for me.. with a 9v? what would I need if I wanted to use a dc adapter from a set of walkie talkies and plug into a standard 110 outlet? I ran my setup on another led wizard and this is what it came up with: Solution 0: 3 x 1 array uses 3 LEDs exactly +9V R = 56 ohms The wizard says: In solution 0: •each 56 ohm resistor dissipates 560 mW •the wizard thinks 1W resistors are needed for your application •together, all resistors dissipate 560 mW •together, the diodes dissipate 384 mW •total power dissipated by the array is 944 mW •the array draws current of 100 mA from the source. and here is the one from the free track wizard: POWER SUPPLY Power supply (V) 9 V LED Led forward voltage (V - manufacturer info) 1.28 V Led forward current (mA - manufacturer info) 100 mA LED ASSEMBLY S : serial assembly RESISTOR COUNT 1 resistor(s) needed for the complete kit RESISTOR THEORICAL VALUE 51.6 Ohms RESISTOR CHOICE E24 SERIES Resistor value 56 Ohms 5% Current 92.1 mA Dissipated power 0.48 Watts Total current in assembly 92.1 mA So am I supposed to use a 1/4 w, 1/2w, or a 1w ? Class : Habitué Posts : 208 Registered on : 19/07/2008 Off line	If you use 9 V power (battery), leds are using 1.28V * 3 = 3.84 V 9 V - 3.84 V = 5.16 V (for resistor) if you use 56 ohm resistor your current = 0.0921 A (from led calc) Power = V * I P for resistor (watt) = 5.16 * 0.0921= 0,475236 watt so resistor must be 1/2 watt.

Class : Apprenti Posts : 5 Registered on : 27/04/2010 Off line	Well.....I have failed in my construction of the LED thing.... I was planning on using a usb for power but no luck..... Its either the usb cable is busted (highly doubt b/c it heats up when i do something terribly dangerous...) OR RADIO SHACK'S cheapo LEDs suck....
