My brother-in-law made it because this way it doesn't need a battery.

1pc LM317 voltage regulator
1pc 240 ohm resistor
1pc 330 ohm resistor
1pc 100n ceramic capacitor
1pc 1u electrolytic capacitor
1pc USB cable

It is easily done, even if it is your first electronics project! I have designed a PCB but it can be easily done on a veroboard, as you can see on the photos.

Here is PCB which can be used for the board:

and the same file in printable PDF. The only thing you will need after this PCB is to find a metal pad/wire to touch the PCB and wiimotes power pins. I used a fairly "fat" copper cable, but you can use anything you have available, or just cut some small pieces of veroboard (like yours:)

   * This mod is based on a LM317 voltage regulator, which takes the USB's 5V and outputs 2.8V, ready to be used on the Wiimote. It DOES not destroy your wiimote, the only "hack" is a hole to pass the usb cable through (and an optional LED "power-ON" indicator light).

   * LM317 comes in these packages and the pinouts are as shown:
