Good morning to all of you guys.
First of all want to thanks the freetrack team for this clever software. I'm a new registered users of the forum. Why ? I'm a founder member of vipersnest web group and i have also a small, really small company that works with plexiglass. Looking through a friends over your forum i tought to realize a small numbers of helmets for my team budds. I'm in Italy so maybe some one here italian is interested. I made a prototipe of this model designing it through Autocad and Rhino and cutted singles sheets with a laser cutter machine. The prototipe hasn't got a courtesy switch that will be mounted on the final one. At the moment i have to produce if final testing will be Ok something like 40 pieces for my web group. I post here some screenshots so maybe some advice or suggestion are welcome. The back of the model is lighted up by a small red led.Really small and irrilevant led. All we scared us is to loose the good FPS in falcon4 assemblato for any info can mail us at cooperative@vipersnest.it or to my personal mail andrea.cerrone@libero.it I hope that the forum admin see this topic as a step forward on their job. Thanks again VsN_Triv

it looks way to big and bulky to me
i think you should streamline it more and make it smaller and thinner. |

ASAP i will do a picture for you guys.
The point is that isn't too bulky, the thing that give you noise is the usb cable, too thick and heavy. But i post on this forum cause i can have good suggestion :-) What i'm going to do is put a small box coming from usb connector, put there all the impedance, switch and so on and bring just the wire,3 ...to the helmet, In this way i can make it less thick and light using a different wire. I'll show you asap picture of the old one...and maybe the new one bye |

I personally tested one with a vertical rectangular hole in the vertical fin to be fixed on an cap.
In Italy we called velcro is common on winter jacket i really miss the english name of that. I can't show you a picture but i discovered that an horizontal fixing solution is better. I will leave a message tomorrow with the final 3d design and if possible i will cut the part during the week-end and test it. I need to be more confident with the freetrack software. This version here is much lighter and easy to assemble. I will show you something asap. Regards Triv |

same name in French though, or also commonly called "Scartch"
I'm affraid that would fix the structure enought on the cap you can't afford any little move of the structure, it would cause wrong interpretation of the head tracking Can't you make some Nylon Screws ? |

Good evening
For some reason you're right But if you use a good one the moving of the head is ....let say well glued. Anyway we are thinking about a special belt for the head. The problem is the hearphone. For example using any game that is playable in multiplayer you need it. At the end of the week i will assemble one and i'll show you the results. Stay tuned. Ciao |

That looks really nice.
One thing I would say, in the first few pictures, the LEDs seem to be set into the plastic. For good performance, they should stick out more. Paul |

Good evening guys.Back to your forum to say that finally we did it.
We haved a small production of 40 units, some for customers other for pilots of my virtual group....everyvone looks ...satisfacted with the last model done. I arranged once again all.I changed some important detail.I realized the final model with only one line of plexiglass instead of 3 glued and worked in the back with an engraver. SO I made a small box over the junction of the two row(vertical and horizzontal), put a light wire (tasker kind) on the top a and soft protection over the box that has a small difference in angle with the head to give as max as possible a correct angle with the web cam. The box has inside the 4 resistors and has some hole for good heat trasmittion. THe light cable finish in a small black box where is located a switch and a courtesy led to remind us that the helmet is still "hot" There start an usb cable. Posteriore Here follow some pics.Nest week we are going to assemble another good number of that and if someone is interested can mail me at info@technosmart.it Once again thanks to thie guys for the good software shared. |
