Hi
I need some help with the Forward Voltage and current mA value for the IR333-A 5mm 940nm LED's. I found the IR333-A datasheet here (PDF file) But I'm still not quite sure what values I should put in the Assembly Wizard. I tried with: 9V Battery for the power source (which I will use). 1.5 Forward Voltage. 80 mA Forward Current. Is that fine? |

Nope, it's not fine
Not really easy to understand this datasheet Forward voltage is 1.5V (even if it's written 1.2V as "typ." voltage, I'd think 1.5V will do it). Forward current is only 20mA ! If you send them 80mA, I'd bet they'll fry ! If tristan68 passes by I guess he'll confirm what I said, but I think it's already all right Rémy |

The truth is that I don't understand a shit from the datasheet. I'm just guessing not very good
I though the maximum forward current was 100 mA, but after looking at the datasheet again I don't know where I got that number from. Is this LED really sufficient for FreeTrack or should I try to look for another type?

The view angle is narrow, but you can increase it by sanding flat the LED (see the hardware FAQ).

Hello Essen , Didja
Sory for not been avail last days I've taken a look at the datasheet. The forward voltage you should use for your calculations is 1.2v, since its the min voltage at continuous current driving mode (not pulse drive). So even if your led has a little more than 1.2v forward voltage , your calcs will go toward security. About the forward current : it's 50mA for this led model. So don't exceed this value. Use the led wizard with the following values : Power supply voltage : 9v Power supply type : batteries Led forward voltage : 1.2v Led forward current : 50mA max. cya |

Hi tristan !
That's a luck you passed by, I said bullshit... Not really easy to understand those datasheets... Rémy |
