Hi guys, I'm about to get a new camera for use with FreeTrack. I'm using a Q6600 so CPU processing won't be an issue. Will a 60fps camera give me much better response than a 30fps one? Thinking about getting the Logitech Quickcam Fusion but not sure whether to look for a small 60fps camera.
If a 60fps camera really does make a difference, can anybody recommend me one which isn't too large (if possible) with a wide angle lense? I'm having trouble finding the perfect camera. Cheers, keep up the great software!

Me I have the philipps that can do 90FPS !
but I'm never using it, actually it's running by default to 30fps and that's fast enought for me, I guess 60 would be much better, but it's pain in the ass to change it all the time! so I think 30 is quite good and it's not using to much CPU! 60 and 90 fps use 2 or 3 times more CPU that the 30 ! make your choice! |

What are you getting from freetrack ?
I have the MS VX-1000 and set it to 30fps however freetrack only says 20fps ? I have set the average down to 1 so that I get a better response. This has made the movement very responsive and I am happy with it. |

Right now I'm getting nothing. My camera/freetrack has decided to screw up. At first it was working, detecting 3 points (I'm using a 3 LED clip) but even then I couldn't rotate my head without it always looking down. Now I'm having problems getting the 3 points again. I've tried numerous camera drivers (the newer ones are screwing with my X-Fi!) and reinstalling freetrack but nothing I do works now...:( (also constantly getting the red screen)

Make sure you get your camera working with MSN or Yahoo messenger first.
I think it takes a bit of power. Try connecting to a different usb bank and/or even unplug the other usb devices. I had problems getting my webcam working also... Then try switching from mmx to sse and try RGB and the other setting (I forget what it is) ? good luck |

Make sure you've entered the dimensions of the clip correctly and ensure the clip is orientated such that it remains vertical and doesn't tilt or pitch during head yaw movement
I420 compression has a red background instead of black. Switch to RGB24 if your webcam doesn't support I420. |

Woohoo!! I420 mode wasn't working before, but upon reinstalling the drivers (again!) it now works. Cheers for the suggestions guys! The software works much better than I thought it would (and feels smoother than in videos), so just want to say well done on creating a great program!
For anybody considering buying a Logitech Quickcam Fusion, I wouldn't suggest it. The drivers keep messing up and the latest ones interfered with my X-Fi audio (pitch of all sound lowered). |

Forgot to mention 3 point tracking mode only works properly in I420 with v2.0.

That's useful to know What are the issues with 3 point tracking when using RGB24? |

It's noted in the readme.txt file. RGB24 doesn't sort the leds correctly so the tracking is mismatched, causing roll to jump from one extreme to the other and other general tracking craziness. Fixed in v2.1 of course. |
