Hi all,
first of all: thants to the developer for this great work! really nice program and i think it was a lot of hard work to get it work so well! now my problem: i bought a logitech quickcam express after i notified that my old webcam is too slow for freetrack. the logitech driver actually shows some good features to manipulate. BUT when i switch to manual exposure or sensitivity and alter the settings (to get higher fps), the driver wont hold my settings. every time i return to the driver settings, my values are gone. so i have the problem that freetrack never gets more than 23 to 25fps. one more question: are you using 160x120 or higher resolutions. i tried both and found that the native resolution gives a little bit better tracking... but perhaps its an illusion.

In the next version (currently in beta testing) you'll be able to force the exposure so that it's correct every time a new video stream is started.
A higher resolution should give better tracking quality with less 'granularity' but it uses much more cpu. Lower resolutions work surprisingly well considering Freetrack isn't sub-pixel accurate. |

mine is Logitech quickcam IM
i use the V2 free track and are able to get average >25 FPS at 320*240 i got this by setting all the available setting to manual and auto flicker to off. my spec is ass follows Intel P4 640 3.2Ghz 1GB RAM DDR2 |

Yes, it's very important to turn off any flicker removal features because they interfere with the frame rate... took me a while to figure that out after much frustration. |

oh and guys another thing i just found out yesterday. use the 1420 color compression mode at the stream setting tab. it also should give you an extra FPS or two.

another follow up
this afternoon my FPS started to drop to an average of >15 FPS it was strange considering yesterday i manage to get an average of >27 FPS turns out that logitech quickcam driver automatically turns on auto gain if the lighting of your room is somewhat darker than the sunlight outside(sunlight comes trough my window) in an effort to make your face viewable in standard webcam mode. every time i unchecked auto gain it somehow always reactivates itself. so my fix was to open the logitech quickcam autogain tab and unchecked it without closing the logitech quickcam setting. i now manage to have an average of >28 FPS |

what setting dialog did you leave open?
i can't leave the cam-settings from freetrack open and start freetrack then. i first have to close this setting-window to be able to press the start button. do you use an external program to control the cam settings? |

ok here's the step by step 1. open free track 2. run the logitech quick cam software 3. choose the change setting (4th icon from top) 4. set all to manual(unchecked all things auto) 5. choose the advanced setting (3th icon form top of the change setting tab) 6. set all to manual(unchecked all things auto) step 1 can be done last or first, i recommend doing it first. good luck! |
