Hey guys, ive installed freetrack v 2.2 and bought a bluetooth dongle to connect the wiimote to my computer. I have sucessfully connected the wiimote to my computer.

Although i do have a problem where whenever i start freetrack and launch lock on and start a mission free track stops the tracking with the wiimote and makes a noise.

I have tried starting the tracking press again but it stops while i am ingame. While the tracking has been stopped the wiimote makes a beeping noise every 5-10 seconds.

I need some help/advice.

Thanks

Mine does that when I minimize the game sometimes.  I have a button set for pause on freetrack, when it stops tracking and makes the noise, I press the pause button and it works from then on.  With me, it only does it when I minimize the game then go back to the game.  It never does it in the middle of playing.

Try using pause instead of closing or minimizing the game to turn it back on.

Thanks for the advice, ill try that out. If anyone else has the wiimote working with freetrack please reply or comment on how to get it working.

Thank you guys.

Okay, i started up lock on and done a quick mission. It seems that freetrack stops while im playing lock on. I was flying and was able to move the view with the tracking but it stopped while i was flying. The wiimote  made a couple of noises after it stopped. I also tried Open Falcon 4.5 and it stops while im ingame. So it seems that they both are doing the exact same thing. I tried pausing the tracking but it didn't solve it.

Does it ever shut off like that when your not in the game?  What bluetooth stack are you using?

I wonder if maybe your wiimote is losing connection with bluetooth every so often and causing freetrack to stop.  If you have a USB extension cord or a USB Hub maybe try putting it closer to the wiimote.  I really don't know what else other than trying a different bluetooth dongle.

Here's a compatibility list: http://www.wiili.org/index.php/Compatible_Bluetooth_Devices

Don't see yours on there but that doesn't really mean anything

Yeah, i think we have found a problem with the wiimote and freetrack. It could be a bug. I've Connected and disconnected the wiimote, started up freetrack and started the tracking process. I started up Lock on and flew a quick mission and i was able to look around for about 10 seconds then the wiimote made a noise and stopped the tracking process. I don't understand why it does this.

Is it possible that the Wiimote is timing out?

You aren't moving it, nor pressing the buttons, so it should eventually time out.  The only way around this would be if the software on the PC side can somehow send it a message to prevent this.

Yeah that could be possible, But it has been sitting idle while freetrack is running in the background with the tracking process started and while i have been writing this reply.  Its only when i enter a game and attempt to make use of the head tracking it "times out".

*EDIT*

I've looked through the help guide and found some information out concerning the issue.

"BlueSoleil can't read Wiimote serial numbers without crashing, so instead, a simple count number is used to identify each Wiimote, incrementing for later connections.

A status check is performed every second, if no reply is received FreeTrack assumes the Wiimote is unavailable, stops tracking and disables the Start button. The battery charge is refreshed with each status check, it is fairly reliable for standard alkaline batteries but significantly underestimates the total charge remaining for rechargeable batteries."

I think i have found out why freetrack stops while im playing a game. I started lock on with freetrack running and started a mission i was able to track my head so i alt + tabbed and found out that the wiimote was running between 5-20 fps  for a short amount of time until the tracking stopped.

I started up the tracking process again but it kept stopping and starting whenever i press start.

I think i've ran out of ideas on how to fix this. If any devs of freetrack can get in touch and try help us fix this it would help a great deal.

*EDIT*

I was just testing it again and while i was playing i got a blue screen saying "memory dump".

Also clutch, do you have msn or something so i can try talk to you and see how you got it working?
