Hello,

I've just build a 3-point clip and set everything up on my ASUS-notebook: Freetrack runs smoothly, my head is being tracked very well, but when I start GTR2 or Open Falcon, it doesn't work. Do I need another program to translate the freetrack data to TrackIR data? What am I doing wrong ;) ?

Thanks in advance,
HAL

Freetrack is running before I launch the game. I'm running version 2.1.2 on an ASUS M51SN Notebook with WinXP Pro.

When I launch Freetrack, it picks up my 3-point clip very well, my head-movement moves the skull in Freetrack. In the output tab i checked the box "TrackIR enhanced interface" (also tried it with this box unchecked). But whatever I try, when I launch a game that supports TrackIR, my head movement isn't used in the game. I tried both GTR2 and Open Falcon.

Try to uninstall / install FreeTrack 2.1.2 .... It's, perhaps, a registry key problem ?   :speaking:

Winows XP Pro SP2 ? SP3 ?
Last DirectX 9.0c ?

Last Webcam driver ?

I already tried uninstall/install.

Yes, I have XP Pro SP3, latest Windows Update, latest dx9.0c, and latest webcam drivers.

For OF, you have to set free-track to work within the game.  In the UI screen, go to setup - controllers then click the advance tab.  On the bottom right you will see all the trackir options.  Click the 3D cockpit option and enable trackir vector.  If you want it to work in 2D pit as well, you can click that option too.  Make sure Z axis control is selected for trackir Z axis mode.

Hope this helps.

@Laidback:
I'm sorry, that didn't work, either. I tried every combination with/without TIR Vector enabled, plus 2d and 3d cockpit, but it just won't work. I will try a fresh OF install.

HAL...there's one more thing you have to do that I forgot to tell you.  You have to edit a line to the 3dckpit.dat file.

micropose/falcon/art/ckptart

Open one of the F16 cockpit folders and look for 3dckpit.dat. Open 3dckpit.dat with notepad.  Look for line "6dof_ready" and change the 0 to 1 and save.  You must do this for all the cockpits.

Hello my man... try to Enable the option MS2004/MS2002 in the Output table... for me, in the GTR, are the only way to make it work!

Cya!

Hi,

a fresh install of GTR2 did the trick, without the option "MS2002/2004", but thank you for the suggestion, anyway.

But: still no luck with OF. Tried a fresh install, tried every TrackIR option, no way to get it to work...

Did you make the changes to the 3dckpit.dat files??  You have to do it for EVERY cockpit in the folder.

YEAH!!! Success!

I finally got OF to work! My problem was pretty simple: I didn't have any joystick plugged in. For some reason, head tracking requires a joystick. I didn't want to configure my HOTAS until Freetrack was working properly, that was the mistake.

So for everyone with the same problem: First configure your joystick/wheel/whatever, then run freetrack.
