I'm using Logitech QuickCam Chat, removed filter, added film negative; FT 2.1, XP SP3 (same results in SP2).

It's definately one of those obnoxious drivers that resets settings every time it's opened, so I'm using Force Exposure to disable auto gain control, set exposure, set gain.

Most of the time, Force Exposure does its job. Once in a while I have to stop and restart tracking... no biggie. The bad part is that every time I enter a game (or do anything that changes my display resolution) the webcam driver seems to reset and return to default exposure. Sometimes this even causes Freetrack to forget the loaded profile!

Any suggestions? Is there a config file somewhere that defines Logitech's default settings? What info can I provide to help further development process :-)  ?  ...or should I just write the QuickCam Chat off as not compatible?

I've experienced this with some FT builds but not 2.1.
Does the webcam video stream restart (the webcam light turns off briefly)?
Does force exposure fail for EVERY display change event?
Try pausing and resuming to get force exposure to be applied.
Does pause/resume ever fail to force exposure?

FreeTrack isn't forgetting the loaded profile, but rather auto-loading the profile associated with the program. Either disable auto-loading or assign the program to the desired profile.

Definately 2.1

Does the webcam video stream restart (the webcam light turns off briefly)?

I have not noticed the light turning off. I was able to cause the exposure to get messed up (while changing my desktop resolution) without the light turning off.

Does force exposure fail for EVERY display change event?

No. Using desktop resolution switching as a consistent test, the problem appears random, at maybe 75% occurence.

Try pausing and resuming to get force exposure to be applied.

Yes. Pause/resume can cause good exposure to go bad, and vice versa. I have been unable to find a pattern to this. If I leave the camera properties window open while pause/resuming, I can watch the sliders change to random positions.

FreeTrack isn't forgetting the loaded profile, but rather auto-loading the profile associated with the program. Either disable auto-loading or assign the program to the desired profile.

Neat - I hadn't even noticed this feature! Auto-loading is now disabled.

I took a crappy screen recording, about 18MB, that shows results from pause/restart. If it's useful, I can find some way of getting it to you.

Thank you so much for such quick response! I've been able to keep it working long enough to know that I love the product! Thank you!
