Hi I am just new here and I am gathering parts to build my FreeTrack device, so my first step was taking the IR filter out of this cheap webcam (which I've heard works) that I bought on Ebay:

I have taken it apart and I got down to the lense, but I don't see any IR filter to remove, here a picture of that:

So I thought maybe it just doesn't have one.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

...or it's just coated on the lens and in that case it's hard to remove it without damage for the optics.
Try it like it is and a good daylight-filter solution, perhaps the ir-filter is weak enough for the tracking.

I could be wrong, but if those leds on the front are ir
it won't have one.

If they were IR I wouldn't be able to see them light up would I? Because these are pretty bright, kind of like white LED's. Am I supposed to disconnect them inside?

I just need to buy some batteries and I will try the camera, if not I will probably just put some film on it from a floppy disk.

Look like IR leds.   Hold a cell phone camera at it to see if they are working.
