I'm using the battery powered setup by benmeijer and wanted to know would 27 Ohm 1/4w resistors do instead of 30 Ohm ones because I cannot find a place that sells that type

Thanks

EDIT: Just noticed in his instruction saying { Feel free to use resistors (metal film or carbon film) between 20-40 Ohm. 1/4 watt E24 } So I guess that answers my question

it also depends on what kind of battery you use.Regular are 1,5V and rechargeable 1,2V.
Keep in mind, batteries run empty. You have a slow(hopefully not fast) voltage drop. You leds brightnesss also changes.
If you want it to be wireless think about something like a usb-backup battery. You have a steady 5V output and you can play for hours with it without a problem.

I was thinking of  AA battery enclosure purely for convenience at not having leads everywhere but after connecting up a SFH845p Led  with a 33 Ohm resistor to the battery enclosure to test it I'm not getting any light from the led what so ever so I tried a 22 Ohm with the same result  so don't know what the problem is the two 1.5V batteries are new and so are the leds resistors.

I'm going to try the USB connection and see if the leds light up, Hope so I had to order the leds online and the thieves charged me $11 postage

Ir-light of those leds is not visible for the human eye.You can only check it with a digital camera or webcam.Maybe you connect it wrong.I also had a few times that it didn't light-up.I made a mistake with the positive an negative side of the led. They only work one way.

Ok thanks I didn't know their light was not visible to the human eye I just followed the instruction from the  Easy build setup with SFH485P on the forum that are pretty easy to undersand and I'm sure I had it setup right.

Just checked the led using a PS3 eye webcam and it's working good thanks for the info about the leds not being seen by the naked eye

Updated my "Easy Build Topic" with more info how to check your build!
