Built 3 point clip over weekend, really excited to try it out in Euro truck simulator 2.... However!

I have used the SFP485p LEDS, and 5v usb same as in the sticky....

But i have to sit about 300mm from my screen, if i move back the leds are not seen by camera. I'm using a Microsoft VX-3000 WEBCAM.
Initially i had 2 layers if photo film over the lens. I removed the photo film and now i can sit about 500mm but it is still too close.

How far from monitor do you all sit?

The other thing i noticed in both Free track software and Euro truck simulator the head is moved forward a long way. Which is kind of correct, my real head has moved forward, but if i move backwards the leds don't  show up.

Please help, this looks so good, (if only I can get it to work correctly!)

Hi,

try to play around with the exposure, brightness setting of the cam and the threshold-slider in FreeTrack to get the LEDs brighter.

What resistor do you use for the SFH485?
Did you remove the ir-filter in the cam?

Hi, I used 6.8 Ohm resistors, exactly as in the sticky quide.

No I have not removed the IR filter, I was using photo film over the lens.
But last night I removed the film, and turned the lights off in the room, so only light from monitor. I could see the 3 LEDs in free track software, but only when they were very close to the camera.

Looking at the LED's with just my eyes I can just see them shining a bit red.
If I use the camera on my phone they glow bright purple.

I will remove the filter tonight and try again.

I moved the fresh-hold slider as far left as it would go, until the whole screen went grey.

When you say change the exposure and brightness, should i increase or decreade them? ie slide left or right?

I made several changes to the profile last night trying to get it to work...

I noticed this morning, that the head in free track has moved forward and to the right? Is there a setting somewhere that tells it where the head should be (have i messed it up)?

When I press the center button, it always moves the head forward and right.

Hi,

your mount seems to be ok.

If you're not able to capture the LEDs without the daylight-filter (film-filter) and high exposure and brightness on the webcam, then the ir-filter of the cam is to strong.

To see how to remove the filter: http://www.free-track.net/english/hardware/filter_removal/microsoft_lifecam_vx1000.php

another vx-3000 experience: Freetrack with vx-3000

(Disable all auto-functions.)

I noticed this morning, that the head in free track has moved forward and to the right? Is there a setting somewhere that tells it where the head should be (have i messed it up)?

You need to enter the correct model dimensions and above all the model position:

Hi,

I removed the filter from the webcam, and left the photo film in place. Then the camera could see the 3 leds really well even when I sat back from the monitor. However the next problem was the size of the LED's, they were massive ! I tried lots of things, moving every slider, changing every value but could not reduce the size of the LEDs....
I even deleted freetrack.ini to reset everything, still the head is forward and left !!!!!

Then I turned the focus ring on the camera and the LED's reduced in size and I got 3 green lights in Free-Track.  :D  :D

Happy days - now to keep playing with the settings to improve things - Thanks for your help.

No problem,

I never tried it myself, but there is an option to reduce the point size:

...but it seems to be solved in a better way. ;)
