Just wondering if i can use a 2light LED system rather than a 3 cause i found a nice pair of safety goggles that have built in LEDs but they only have 2 leds not 3 so just wondering if they will do the trick or if i still have to modify them to attach a 3rd 1?

I don't know, I seem to remember reading that you could track with two points, but it doesn't look like freetrack alloys 3 points (i've blocked out 1 point on my clip and the dots are red)
If I were you i'd just get a cheap keychain or pocket LED flashlight and just figure out a way to mount it between the two points.

It won't work with 2 leds since all configurations are for 1 or 3 led pointmodels.
1 Led pointmodels for 2 axis tracking and 3 led pointmodels for all 6 degrees of freedom.
It isn't so much a limitation of FreeTrack, but more that for 6 DoF you need triangulation, hence the 3 pointmodel.
Edit:
I forgot about the 4 pointmodel, but that one is obsolete.
