Hi there,

I'm about to buy components for my construction of my own track-IR and the store easiest to get to (Maplins in the UK) only has 2 IR emitters.

My questions here are do the LED's require to produce light?

Also, they only stock a 40 degree beam angle. Due to my computer desk's size, I sit closer to my computer than one would hope, but this also means the camera will be a lot closer, so I'm not sure if 40 is acceptable?

I used 40° LEDs in any (im)possible position. No problem, it's enough.

I tried also this ones: LD271 (50°)

and they works fine.

I had pretty narrow-angle LEDs, but filing them down worked just fine, if you end up needing more than 40 degrees.

You shouldn't, though-- looking too much more than 40 degrees away from your center makes it pretty hard to see the screen.

Thanks guys, took them a week to stock the 50 degree ones but I've got them!

Now for the daunting task of finding something to mount them on!
