Hi there, I am new to the community and have set out to get a wii remote setup working. So far I have spent hours troubleshooting bluetooth connectivity with the wii remote. I have seen a bunch of threads about this issue and have attempted to install both the toshiba and bluesoleil stacks and have run into problems with both. Under the MS stack I am able to connect to the remote but get a grey start button in freetrack, also the wii remote lights keep flashing (no rumble or sound from the device).

Toshiba on all versions wont detect my hardware on setup leaving me stuck with a "please plug in your hardware" message.

Bluesoleil v6.2.227.11 borrowed from a... "friend"  installs fine but wont detect my hardware giving me a "cannot start" error.

I have tested this on both a windows xp laptop and a windows 7 64bit desktop only to get the same exact result

Dongles used are:

IOGEAR gbu421 and Belkin F8T016

Both are said to work on this website
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_Working_Bluetooth_Devices

I can confirm that they both do not work under windows 7 and windows xp using the broadcom and MS stacks. Both dongles also have the same chipset. BCM2046
When working with linux I like to stay away from broadcom chipsets and now I am starting to think the  same for windows. If somebody out there managed to get this bcm2046 BT dongle to work please let me know what you did.

Other than that I think it would be a good idea for us to start our own working dongle list. Please post your wii remote setup to help new people avoid the bad equipment or headache of software issues.

Thanks
-Nick

After some more testing I have managed to connect to the wii remote using dolphin. The remote rumbles and lights go from flashing to a single solid light. Still no success with free track. The button is still gray. Could this be a software issue with the way that freetrack handles Wii remote connections?

Problem solved! Bluesoleil is working. Anyone else having these problems should install v8, not v6.

Hi nick365, I wonder if you still visit the forum. I had problems with Wii-remote + bluesoile. I tried V8 and V7. I was able to track for a few seconds, but then the wii-remote automatically stopped tracking with a "dodo" sound. If I press the "A" button, it'll starting tracking again, and then stop again. I wonder if it's the problem with the bluetooth software, or with the remote hardware. Do you have the free version of bluesoile with 2MB restriction or not?
