To do a continuous power system with my wiimote it's going to cost me a mint after I get it mounted to my monitor, etc. I'd say at least $50 not considering the cost of the wiimote unless I find a good 3V DC adaptor capable of 500MW or better.

Since I use a multi-computer setup I was wanting to use freetrack on multiple systems. I can't afford 100 bucks a system( 40 wiimote, 40 constant power source, 20 bluetooth adaptor ), so I'd be restricted to one computer on freetrack.

I'll be using it as a mouse pointer only for a head mouse with Dragon Naturally Speaking to click.

Is the wiimote worth this kind of money or are there better cams for less money?

The PS3 Eye can't be beat. It costs a little less than the wiimote, has superior resolution (640x480 vs 128x96 which is important for mouse pointing), good fps (75), very wide field of view, USB powered (always connected) and easier to mount.

Only catch is you can't remove the IR filter in newer versions of the camera and which makes it harder to separate LEDs from sunlight.

I use it without removing the filter, with white leds, no issues, it works very good.

I already have some IR LEDs, Vishay TSAL6400s that emit at 940NM. They didn't cost me too much, so I'm not too attached to them. Shipping time is murder on these types of things, though.

Whatever I do, I have a single shot at doing it. I have very little money. Once I buy this camera, I'm done. I have $20 left to rig the LEDs up and get the camera stuck on my monitor.

I want to mount whatever I do onto a bluetooth headset and use rechargeable batteries.
