Hi,

First of all let me say thanks to all at Freetrack for a great piece of software.

I have had Freetrak running in FSX with my old Mikomi webcam with 3 points but only got very slow framrates using a cap I made with 3 SFH485 ir leds.

I decided to buy a Wiimote from Amazon but it only tracks 2 points.

When I cover one of the leds one of the points goes out and the previously unlit point is then visible on the screen, still only 2 points.

I understand the Wiimote is capable of tracking 4 points.

Has anybody resolved this problem or do I have a faulty or dodgy Wiimote?

Thanks to all

hi all well ive just joined for the same reason

i bought what i thought was the correct wii remote  on ebay  cheapo  so i guess its not gen even if it id=s badged the same etc

i to have only 2 pts being tracked it seems ( saying that im on a work lap top )
will try again when on a proper systrem abd set it up again

however  further reading suggests fake or copy wii  or even aftermarket versions will only pic up 2 leds  while the gen nintendo wii can pic up up to 4

so if my trials fails over hte weekend its a gen wii remote purchase i guess

just gotta find a nice black one

ps am using the trackir headset (clip)  as was thinking about making a clip but thought for the price £29  why the hassle  and the finish although flimsy is quite good

so thx to freetrack also for the software hope it workd later

Hi again,

A quick update.

I now have tried a couple of cheap Wiimotes. Both of the suppliers assured me that they would work for my 3 point tracking application. Both only tracked two points.

I paid the extra and bought an original boxed Nintendo Wiimote.  This works perfectly with FreeTrack.  Now I have it all working, it was worth the hassle in fact, for FSX its absolutely brilliant, I would recommend it to all.

I ordered some Infrared emitters SFH485 from Conrad, sewed three of them into a baseball cap and  after cutting out the existing red leds soldered them to an old 3 led rear bike lamp (3volt) using some cat 5 wires. This is stuck on the back of the cap with carpet tape.  Quick and easy.. no resistors to muck about with.  It may be stating the obvious but make sure its the type of bike lamp that stays on permanently ie does not flash!

Thanks again FreeTrack

and All who post.

Andy
