HI all, im the new guy, right here goes ive been round all the loacal electrical shops and nowhere seems to stock the recomended osram ir led ? my location is midlands uk. i finally finished off at maplins superstore to find they didnt have any either but the guy who seemed to know it all about freetrack sold me a few 2.5 volt super bright red leds, but they are not ir, he assured me this would work? so can anybody help me with telling me i was suckerd by parting with my money, thanks for your help guys, oh im looking at making the 3 cap vers, ta muchly!

Hi, while its not easy to get the SFH485P, i got the SFH485 (20° version) and filled it flat (but im not in UK).
Freetrack should work ok with red leds, but i guess the 2.5V version will need very strong source (9-12V), and will cast red visible light on your monitor. Not sure how it will work in bright daylight since you won't be able to use VIS filter, but maybe it will with good settings on webcam.

So while i think most ir LEDs are superior for freetrack use, it should work.
