Hi, i want to recommend to every sim fan the demo of the new Wings of Prey (http://www.airwargame.com/eng). Its the best Freetrack implementation I have seen so far, aaand its 6DOF!

A nice ingame video can be seen here:

I've been playin this game for about a week so, simply fantastic  The community is growing fast too...

I just wanted to ask you about your setup for this game.  How do u have your output so it recognizes in WoP?  I'm using the mouse emulation in FreeTrack because I wasn't sure how to set it up. However, the range of motion is a bit weak.  So i was wondering if there is a different way to adjust the output so it works natively or am I just  missing some setting in there?

I'd like to know also.

I'm using mouse emulation as well, and as zuljin said, it's far from ideal.

Ive got it running for WoP. It took a few restarts of WoP for freetrack to get recognized, but once it recognized it worked perfectly.

Just make sure freetrack is running, then start up wop.

Disable UAC if you have vista or win7. Did the trick for me.
Cheers!

I was build some 3 led clip pure improvisation 2x1,2V NiMH battery and 3 blue led light removed from cheap cigarette lighter. Quickcam pro 5000 without removal of IR filter or add some other thing.

Turn on FT do some basic configuration just to see how it is behaving; start demo of WoP and it was work almost perfectly playing with setup of WoP profile just for minute and it was so good that I was start to play and stop setting of FT what is my first intention. It is the first time that I’m completely satisfied with Head Tracking and how it affects on game play. It is completely deferent game with FT then it is without it.

The point is my WoP demo start implementing FT by itself I didn’t have to do anything only thing what I was done is turn off camera controls true mouse in game.
So if someone have problem with WoP with FT it is on client side FT and WoP are definitely working great.

It will be good if we exchange few WoP profiles and camera settings here and I’m personally asking some advice for best setup for my model of camera to make it work smoothly and with les jittering.

Thanks.  :)

WoP is so immersive using FreeTrack, it just blows me away!
It took me about three days of tweaking (mainly curves and sensitivity), but my little three-point IR led cap works perfectly. You do have to stay a relative distance from the camera to get everything to work smoothly.

I'm still tweaking, but here's a short video that demonstrates where I am with my current setup:

Edit: I couldn't resist... here's another slightly more immersive clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRqfmsHuT0s

This is my WoP FT profile it is not completely polished but good foundation for start.
You could send your profiles to comparing. My profile is based on 6DoF 3point clip.

Here's a look at my Freetrack config file. This will most likely not be the exact, specific and individual settings you will need or want, but it's a start. (Remember I'm using a VX-1000 with a three-point cap). It also really depends on how far away (in 3D space) your hat/head is from the camera and the distances between LEDs on your model.
Let me know how this works for you (remember to backup your original config file before editing anything!)

BTW this setup works for me not only in WoP but also in IL2, Lock-On, Pacific Fighters... you get the picture.

Hi kiroc7 nice video BTW.

I was thinking about to create one IR cam removing IR filter only for FT usage.
Looks like vx 1000 is best buy option.

Could you please give me some more information about your camera and how you are satisfied?
Could you run 640x480 on how many fps and cpu usage?

Thanks.

I'm happy with the VX-1000. It was cheap ($21 at Fry's), the IR filter was easy to remove (unscrew the lens, pop off the filter, reassemble)... and after I downloaded the newest drivers from Microsoft (I didn't bother to install the 'bloatware' that was included) it runs easily at 640x480 at 30fps (go into the stream setup and change your resolution there).
With a piece of a floppy disk filtering regular light I can play all day with windows and lights all around and it still works perfectly.
Highly recommended camera.  :)

Thanks.  ;)

I have Logitech quickcam pro 5000. Very good camera but is too goog for remuving IR filter and I will try to lieve it for video.

VX 3000 is not better than VX 1000 if you go remove IR filter and use it just for the FT.

VX 3000 is better model but part of the hardver used by FT is the same so there is no use of this advantages in FT.

So comparing price and performance in FT VX 1000 is better choice.

Only I'm afraid Logitec and Microsoft cameras drivers could be in colision.
