Hey guys, I did a search for this but couldn't find anything in the forums about it, so I thought I'd ask this question: I went to the webcam compatability page and this is what you had to say about the VX-3000

Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000

   * Approx. $34 USD
   * Works perfectly with FreeTrack in 4 point tracking mode.
   * 30fps at 320x240.

So if I buy this webcam, download and install FreeTrack v2.2, and make an LED tracking assembly, I'll get head tracking in supported games? I won't have to do ANY tinkering with the webcam? Sounds almost too good to be true! :)

Oh, and by the way what is 4 point tracking? Does that mean I'll only get 4DOF (sorry if the question is stupid, but I have no clue what 4 point tracking is :E)?

Hope you can help, cheers!

That's the one I use, and no, you don't have to open up the webcam or anything crazy like that.

I just use 3 point tracking btw. 4 point is outdated, but it works nonetheless if that's your thing. ;)

Oh, and I got mine running at 640x480 at 30FPS. Works flawlessly.

So what is the best choice for this camera?
Normal LED or Infrared?

I use one of those cameras with IR Leds and theoretically they are the best choice for every camera.

Good luck with your set-up.
