Hi all! I'm new here, as you can see. After a while of deliberating over what power source to use for my 3-point headLED (LEDpiece? LEDgear?   )

I've just ordered my SFH485Ps so I can make a clip or cap using 2x AAA batteries (3V total). My "webcam" of choice is the Wiimote.

What forward current should I aim to run the LEDs at, for optimum use with the Wii remote?

I am aware of the "correct" current values for use with modded/unmodded webcams, but the FAQ does not include info for recommended operating currents for use with the Wiimote.

I am thinking of going for 50 mA  (i.e. I will buy 30 ohm resistors tomorrow).  Is this OK, or will it be too bright for the Wiimote?

I'll keep you updated with pictures as I build the thing.

Thanks for Freetrack, by the way. It is brilliant. I had a quick go by moving the Wii sensor bar around in front of the Wiimote yesterday, and it's fantastic!

I went for the 50ohm and it seems to be working well.

My setup is now thus:

- Wiimote
- SFH485P x3 in parallel
- 50 ohm resistors x3
- 2x AAA 1.5v batteries
- Rocker switch

Dimensions of the LED triptych:
H 80 mm
L 100 mm
W 125 mm (half width 62 mm in FreeTrack)

The readings I get (using the multimeter) across each LED are 1.4 V, 42 mA.

FreeTrack gives FPS close to 100 (the magic of the Wiimote!) but JPS is high, between 40 and 60 usually. I usually have the threshold at about 25%.

I'm currently playing IL-2 1946, but I'm looking forward to trying another game, one that allows 6DOF - unless I get the IL-2 patch of course...
