Hi guys I'm a newb here so I need a few answers.

1. Do I have to remove the IR filter in the webcam? I don't have other lighting from appliences and stuff behind me when I play.

2.It seems those led's will be visible on my screen while I play. Is that ok, isn't it annoying?

I built a 3 point system from a bicycle light like Urse showed on his video on youtube and just need to buy the webcam now. wan't to get the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000, but don't think i'll be willing to remove the IR filter, since I can use the cam for communicating with friends too.

Hello!

Yesterday I build my own freetrack setup. First, I did not remove the IR filter. The IR LEDs werde recognized correctly by the freetrack software, but the sensitivity was not so very good. Especially when turning the head the IR light was not recognized very well in these wide angles and the 3d movement got "stuck".

Today I removed the IR filter of my Creative NX Pro (A nice working Webcam with about 30 fps in a 320x240 resolution). I did not add any visible light filter. Now, after playing with some cam specific parameters like brightness, gamma, contrast etc. the cam works more smooth than before. The head rotation especially feels more realistic.

And nice effects having an IR camera for looking at different things, very interesting ;)
