Hello. I am having a little trouble with freetrack.
I have a MS VX-1000 webcam which is fully IR modded (I have removed the IR filter, and put a floppy disk negative film in front of the lens).

I have buillt a 3 point clip with SFH 485P IR LEDs, power provided by an alkaline 9V (6LF22) battery. At first, I put a a 100 Ohm resistor and the webcam lost track of the clip easily. I have now put a 60 Ohm resistor and the webcam now loses track at 50 centimeter distance.
I dont know what I am doing wrong... I thought that 100 Ohm are enough for even 1 meter distance.
Is it the battery? (I remember seeing one post here saying that alkaline batteries are not good sometimes...correct me if I am wrong)

After a few days I bought another 9V and the situation is slightly better but still completely unplayable.

This link above is the look of freetrack when in 30 cm distance from camera. It is good, but I cant stick my head in front of the camera while playing  :pinch: .

LINK 2
The last one here is at 80cm which is about the distance I want to play from. Even though the 3 green lights are lit at all times at the bottom right, the LEDs dont look good at the big black window. If I go to a game, the head is moving right and left with small movememnts all the time like you have parkinson (which doesnt happen if I am close to the camera). This happens if I am not moving the clip at all. The movements are still there. Whatever I do with the sofware, there is no change. (tweak with threshold etc. etc.)  It is obvious that the LEDs are not well powered...

P.S.Also, in calibration at freetrack, what does the focal length do?

Never mind. Problem solved. It seems that the floppy disc cover was too thick. So I replaced it with some tape from an old VHS tape   . Now it is perfect  :)
