WHATS THE SMALLEST WORKING POINT MODEL DIMENSIONS YOUVE SEEN?
thats the short of it, heres the long:
so ive gotten my proto-type working, 3 point cap with IRleds, and it seems to work fine but will of course need some tweaking as far as sensitivity and so-on. i have a trust wb 1400t webcam, with IR filter removed and a piece of exposed negative mounted where the filter was.
the problems with the cam are twofold...
A) uses @ 17% cpu alone and @ 45% with freetrack running. my pc gets 30 fps out of it, but cant handle the load of Freetrack+webcam+IL-2 .
this problem i worked around using Glovepie and running freetrack on my laptop, and letting my PC run IL-2. HOWEVER, i can only get 20 FPS from freetrack on my laptop????
PC- AMD Barton xp2800 (2,1ghz)
LAPTOP- Turion 64x2
-------must be a setting somewhere, and i can live with it for now....
B) the cam has a narrow viewing angle so when im turning my head one point keeps going out of frame. ive moved the camera further back but the problem then becomes the angle of 'attack'(?) ie.. it has to shoot over top of my monitor and this plays havoc on freetrack response. and keeping it as low as possible so i can line up on my point model correctly then the top of the monitor gets in the way.
so short of buying a new webcam, (which i will eventualy) i thought i could make as small a point model as possible and thereby reduce the chances that one led will go out of frame.
anyone have any ideas? other than im a long winded arse?

If you set your model dimensions in Freetrack you will get a warning in the case your dimensions are improper.
Rule of thumb: Keep everything away from other LED's.
Particular attention to the center led. It has to be further back from the side led's
