I normally use 12V batteries for my cap but they seem to die(finish) too quickly so i made another battery bay for 9V but weirdly the LEDs get too hot when i use 9V battery... is it normal them being very hot or could this result in destroying the LEDs.. I didn't leave the 9V on use longer than a minute.. so don't know if the LEDs will be destroyed or not...

Could anyone help me drop the temp on the LEDs with 9V or is it normal and harmless?

Tell us more about your connection, I assume that you are using only one resistor. What value are you using?

I also assume that you are using small resistor value so you have great heat dissipation on the resistor and on the LED's.

They are getting hot because a lot of current is going through them.

Try to increase the resistor value (not by luck though)

Use some equations or the LED Assemply guide from the Free Track website.
