Hi. I've been using Free-Track for some time and I love it. But due to my lack of electronic skills I used a 3-diodes bicycle lamp with two diodes covered with a black tape. So I had just one diode usable. Recently I decided to make a 3-dioded clip for my new headset (just like in Urze's video tutorial in links section - from what I can tell I even used the same CatEye lamp) because it seamed to me the easiest solution not requireing any electronical knowledge. But due to my lack of technical skills I damaged one of the diodes during the process and it is unusable now. My question is how can I tell what kind of diode (i.e. with what parameters) do I need to but to replace the old one? From what I can tell my lamp is set on a parallel circuit and it has one resistor (5 stripes: red, yellow, yellow, gold, green)?
And if I'm forced to buy the one diode is it possible that I replaced all the three diodes with IR diodes?

I dunno If I'm answering you but...
I bought a 1€ chinese bike LEds (which used 6 leds, with different programs: Flashing, constant, etc) and I simply cuted all of them, and then attached my 485P IR leds on 3 of them. It works fine.

Thanks for replying.
But  had you known what parameters had your original diodes and what parameters have your IR ones before you made a clip? Or did you buy just a random IR diodes?
For purposes of testing I connected a IR diode from an old dammaged TV remote controller to my bicycle lamp and I think I got it burned (it was flashing for a few seconds and then seased to flash for good). I think that, as those bicycle lamps are to give a bright light, they need good and endurable diodes. Not every diode will do, am I right? I'm just not sure if I buy some random IR diodes will they not get burnt.

Original Leds were green (instead of red, search on the forum related to this, posts by me) and then I made a research for ideal IR leds. I found IR on an online store, being GaAIAs leds, 3mm wide, with 130º of wide angle...
They are Osram SFH487P (3mm, instead of 5mm).

Currently I'm building my second model, as first one was awesome and i gave it as a present to a mate to enjoy FSX :)

Hey All!  Is this a usable  bicycle lamp for building a freetrack?
