Hi, I'm new to FreeTrack and I have a microsoft VX-3000 webcam on its way. So I am looking for some leds and I came across the ones I mentioned in the topic title and I have a couple of questions.

1: I looked at the specifications on them and they look like they should work ok, but I think the viewing angle is smaller than what you recommend ( but I can file down the top if its to narrow, correct?). So will these work fine?

2: The datasheet lists the maximum ratings for the leds. So in the led assembly wizard should I put in like 75% of that or 50% or what. So what are some good numbers to crunch into the wizard for these leds.

Datasheet: http://www.datasheetarchive.com/LTE-5238A-datasheet.html

Thanks!

the numbers I'd use are

Forward Voltage 1.5v
Forward Current 60mA

You don't mention how you intend to power the LED's though so what did you have in mind?

The view angle of those LED's is a problem but as you say fixable by filing off the tip.

Oh and dont forget to IR mod the camera (very easy on the VX-3000) or it won't even see the LED's..

Oh, sorry I was thinking of a 9v battery, since I have the stuff laying around the house to do it. Thanks!
