Hello. First of all say THaNKS to all the people involved on Free Track project. What an amazing piece of Software!

I've green leds coming from a bike light.

Will it work on FreeTrack? Is it necessary to use red ones?

Regards! :D

The best ones are Ir-LEDs. But green LEDs should work too.

We recommanded IR leds because of Wide angle and no light reflect on screen  ...

you can use another type of led ...

red or blue color are better because of webcam detection ... But you can use green led... You will not have the best result with this kind of led ...

It can be a good try for the first time ... But not for regular play ...

Thank you for your responses guys :). I've built my first handset 3-LEd "thing" :D. It looks crap (made with a hanger and commented green leds of a bike) but works good.

As you said, it seems it could work better. I've been suffering issues regarding Yaw Axis. That could be fixed with the IR ones, with wider angles.

I'll buy them online and comment you the changes.

The issue I most hate is:

Fly in FSX, look at the left (yaw) or right, and if i keep in that position, it changes to center randomly. It works seamlessly only If I keep moving, but not in that "turned" positions.

Yes it's true !
You must use IR led to solved Yaw problems (Leds disappear if not  :p - when you use "extreme" angle )..

Hi again guys. I switched from a clip mount to a hat mount :).

I'm still dealing with the led choice.

Whats your opinion about this?
http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/catalog.cgi?view_product=1&id=1860
It's sold as emitter and receiver. Is it valid as "IR Led" or is it regarding other thing?

IF not valid, will this one work?
http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/catalog.cgi?view_product=1&id=1662&sid=13&cid=159&scid=464

It's a 50º angle led... I don't know if it's good or not enough.

Could I use bigger ones? Like 8 or 10mm?

Thank you very much for your help

First link :

What is the led angle ?

Link 2 :

Led angle is too few : 40 °

65 - 80 ° leds are better and better ...

use this kind of IR led with flat head  ...

I think there is an error about angle 40°  ....

The unique part in stock is this:

http://radionics.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?navfromcart=shoppingcart&method=compareProducts&originalProduct=0585236&alternativeProduct=769575

Which says 20º!!!!!!!!. 80º is obsolete (they said that)

Thank you for your time babasior! They (radionics IE) seems to have it. They are the same you commented before, but in 3mm. isn't?

Is it more valuable for freetrack a wider angle than the size? (5mm vs 3)

PS: THEY ARE SO EXPENSIVE!  :o  :o  :o . 4€ each!

PS2: I'm a dumbass. "1 box of 10" :D

too big size is not good (5 mm is perfect - 3 mm ... why not ...)

IR led are expansive : for example 1,25€ ,each one, without transport ...

Ok. I hope this is my last question :D

I'm at this point: http://radionics.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=retrieveTfg&Ne=4294959111&Nr=AND(avl%3aie%2csearchDiscon_ie%3aN)&tfgSearch=Y&Ns=stockPolicy_ie|1||new_ie|1&N=4294955562+4294903649+4294912833&deSelectAttribute=0.25W#breadCrumb

Those are Resistor of 15ohm and 5% Resistance tolerance. Which power should i Choose? Tristan68 Wizard says:
Dissipated power      0.15 Watts

So anything above .15 will work?

I can't believe you guys can't find any of these out there. In my country ( Turkey), there is like electric shops everywhere. Where you can buy IR L.E.D or normal L.E.D. And any other kind of electronic parts. Guess I'm too lucky. Ordering only ccost to expensive since the shipping is more expensive then the L.E.Ds itself.
