I have setup my PS3 eyetoy on my PC with FreeTrack.  I have the directshow capture support working, and my eyetoy shows up in FreeTrack.  BUT, on the camera tab, when I click show, I get "traditional" looking video, with no tracking points.  The threshold slider does nothing.  By comparison, when I use my Logitech camera, the video is bichromatic red and gets lots of little targetting crosses.

Is this
a) An issue with MY system/camera.
b) An issue with FreeTrack/PS3 eyetoy interaction.

Has anyone gotten the eyetoy working?  Has anyone had similar problems with a different camera?

Ok, some progress.  I tried version 2.1.2 on a whim, AND IT WORKS!  It capture from my PS3 eyetoy perfectly.  After removing the IR filter and installing a slice of floppy disk drive, the image is beautiful!
HOWEVER, Version 2.1.2 crashes after running for a few minutes.  I went back to the latest version and it still doesn't work (image looks like a "normal" image and doesn't draw "targets" over my points.

So, whats up?  What has changed between these two version that might have broken PS3 camera support?  Is there somewhere I could download a version in between these two which might not crash but still have PS3 support?

I'm very anxious to get this all working!  Amazing project.

Cheers

Resolved!  There is another thread on this forum which links to a different PS3 driver (NOT AlexP's).  That driver works perfectly with the latest (?.279) Freetrack.  Also, that free-track resolved the issue of FreeTrack turning off when Falcon Allied force is launched.

Thus, I have a fully working PS3 eyetoy in F4AF.  Yippee!

Do you have the link to the other driver?

Do you think it would work for WinXP 64bit?

Thanks

Bump...  I'm searching around like crazy on these forums, and I can ONLY find this post as mentioning anything to do with PS3, Eye, PS3 Eye, Eyetoy, PS3 Eyetoy...

It's kind of irritating...  If you have a link to the drivers that you found which worked, that would be MUCH appreciated.

I'm not an idiot... I've found those before, and have followed the setup, but the camera is not working properly with Freetrack.

There is an area in both the 320x240 and the 640x480 that is pitch black, and any areas with light show up as Red areas, but the top 80% of the picture is not tracking any light.  For instance, in the lower 20%, I can activate an IR led, and the software will track it as a point... if I raise it up to the top 80% of the image, the light is still there, but freetrack does not register it as a point.  It all looks very strange.

Also, whenever there's one point of light in the bottom area, it picks up the point of light from the LED, but it also picks up one on the right of it (about 2 ft away from the LED in the image) and one on the left... so 1 point becomes 3.

So I'm thinking something must be fucked up with the driver...

So I came here, and this post came up and said that there was a driver available that was NOT AlexP's, which are the ones that you linked me to.

So, again, I ask if anyone knows what this guy above me is talking about when he says get the PS3 Eye drivers that are NOT AlexP's (of NUIGroup)
