Hey Guys
I am new here and really glad I found this site I have got a trackir 4 pro and trackir clip I never ended up using the clip on my rig, I have another rig in another room and want to use the trackir clip with freetrack software, is this possible? It's my understanding that if I use the trackir clip then I would not have to make the ball point LED cap, is that right? But I would still need a device such as a webcam, or wiimote right? Also, is it possible to use the wiimote as the tracking device but then use the trackir clip pro and use the trackir software instead of freetrack? This should be possible right? As all that the trackir tracker that sits on top of your monitor is a small IR device, so a wiimote can do the same thing and then I could just use their own trackir software right? Sorry for all the questions I just really want to set this up right any help much appreciated Many thanks in advance |

Hello vavavoom
To make things simple : - you can use your trackclip pro with freetrack too. - you'll need a webcam or a wiimote to track it. The software is "hardware dependant", so : - trackir device = trackir software - webcam or wiimote = freetrack cya |

Hello tristan68
Many thanks for your reply So let me get this straight. I can use the wiimote as the tracker and use the track clip pro but then I would have to use the trackir software? I thought freetrack had to remove trackir support from their drivers? Also how would I use the track clip pro, as it's a USB device? Do i plug it into a USB port? The cable is a bit short, can I plug it into a USB extension cable? Can the wiimote be used in a dark room? I am hoping to set this up on a home cinema projector for flight sims. Do I need to make any modifications to the wiimote like remove an ir filter or is it all plug and play? Sorry for all the questions, but I really could do with the help as I am very keen to set this up Many thanks in advance |

No. Use the FreeTrack software.
The software talks to the reciever. The TrackClip Pro is just a USB powered transmitter (point model). It is simply doing the same thing that battery powered home-built point models are doing.
Yes and yes.
Yes.
No physical alteration to the Wiimote is necessary. Just mount it in a similar manner to how you would mount/aim a TrackIR camera at a TrackClip Pro. The Wiimote will need a suitable Bluetooth stack for your computer to communicate with it. If you don't already have that covered, I recommed looking for the BlueSoleil stack with whatever Bluetooth dongle you buy. |

Hello
Many thanks for replying to me. Lot's of useful information right there. I have tried everything you suggested. But unfortunately the current version of freetrack has that bug where it won't start. So I have reverted back to the last version and am now using a standard webcam. Do you know if I need to remove the ir filter? I have the kodak dvc325, it's a very old cam about ten years old I think. Also do I need install drivers for the trackclip pro or do I just plugged it into the USB port? correct me if I'm wrong but does the track clip pro only need a source of power i.e. from the USB port? Many thanks in advance |

It's shame that 2.2 isn't working for you. I don't know about the dvc325. If you don't find an answer by searching other postings, etc. then just try it as is... If you end up seeing the 3 points from the energized TrackClip Pro, then you don't need to remove an IR filter. There are no drivers for a TrackClip Pro. It's just using the USB for power. |

Many thanks for your reply
I am seeing the 3 points from the trackir clip, it shows them as the color red in the free track program. So I don't have to remove the ir filter. But then as there's jerky movement then it's just my old webcams problems because of low specs compared to modern cameras on the market. Do you know if it works with camcorders? I have a mini DV camcorder, very high quality. |

Hey,
Check you have correctly selected "3 point CLIP" in the model tab. Also, how many FPS do you get ? Rémy

Many thanks for your reply
I have the 3 point clip selected I get 15FPS shown in pink and 8 and 9FPS for jitter shown in green The FPS is pretty much the same no matter how much I move the threshold slider rfom left to right. You know the camera box, when you move the threshold slider are you suppose to get it so it looks completely black (by moving the slider to the right) then until you see the 3 red dots from the LED's then you know it's set right? Also I am currently testing this in a bright lit room, as it's day time here. But I did select it yesterday in a dark room and I would get only a few more FPS. Any help much appreciated Many thanks in advance btw do you know when v2.2 will be fixed for everyone?

Hello,
15 FPS, it's not a lot... IS autoexposure unchecked ? You're right about setting the threshold, you do it the way it should be done . About this bug with the v2.2, I don't know when it'll be fixed. It's a windows problem so... Rémy |

Many thanks for all your replies
I don't see autoexposure where can I find this? I only see force exposure and when I click on it none of the check boxes are ticked |

It's in the "camera" window.

Sorry again, but I have checked the camera window and see no autoexposure but I do see force exposure. When I click that it shows a new window and the check boxes are all unchecked. I have version 2.1
I hope you can please tell me where I can find this auto exposure, please possibly show me a screen shot? many thanks Also on a side note, I am trying to setup v2.2 on my other computer in vista home premium +SP1, is there a way that I can make the wiiremote automatically connect as a bluetooth human interface device? Surely this is possible as I imagine that's how all bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouses do when booting into windows. Please correct If I am wrong. Lastly, I think I was installing in XP v2.2 in the past which wasn't working for me. I didn't see the maintenance update, I can't believe I missed that. Is it worth installing that rather than 2.2? Sorry for all the questions You have been very helpful Many thanks in advance |

If you download the maintenance version, you'll get the last version available (2.2.0.279).
The autoexposure option is availaible in the driver propertie window. You acces it also by hitting "amcap.exe" in Windows, Run... About the bluetooth connection, I'm not a pro, I don't have a wiimote myself. You can get info about that in the Documentation (About tab, left button "help"). Rémy |

The Wiimote is not a typical Bluetooth device. It wasn't designed to be a PC "HID", and it doesn't behave like one. You'll want to do some research on the subject. If you google "Using a Wiimote with a PC" or something close to that, you'll undoubtedly get a better feel for what you're getting into. Basically, you need to power up the Wiimote, start up the Bluetooth stack on your PC, and then have it search for the bluetooth device (Wiimote). Do NOT try to have them 'pair up' as the PC will not read a serial number in the Wiimote. Depending on what bluetooth stack you get it working with, your details may vary. |
