Is anyone using the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Webcam with FreeTrack.

I would like to know if it works before I buy one.

Also, does anyone know how easy/hard it would be to remove the IR Filter from this camera?

Thank you...

Woah.. dude I own this camera and I planned to start making 3 point clip system and was thinking the same too. I would like to know if it works but chances are it will because the Pro 5000 model works well too, so I'm guessing I'm able to get it work with FreeTrack easily.

You may want to consider twice before buying this cam. Taking out the IR filter with such expensive webcam? Lol, might as well look for a decent but cheaper ones to remove the filter. Personally I'd go for 65mA with IR LED hoping that it'll able to penetrate the filter and provide me with a reliable feedback. Hope so. Keeps finger crossed.

Off line Www

Yeah, if you wanna buy a webcam just to use it with FreeTrack, there is no need to buy such an expensive one. If you remove the filter, you won't be able to use it as a normal webcam for usual video purpose, so it's not much of an interest...

If you want to get the best tracking ever and you're ready to spend some money on it, you should buy a wiimote ;) .

By the way, I guess this webcam will work since most of the Logitech's have been reported working with FreeTrack.

I would still ask someone who has real experience using this camera about his impressions. As said, the camera is pretty expensive and I don't want to ruin it without any use.

Does it track IR LEDs without removing the filter? Is the CPU load very high (I have a single-core CPU)? How does it perform in general?

Kudos for answers in advance.
