No, you must use 2 AAA 1,2v battery (1800 MAH mini) if you want to have enough power for 3 leds ...

I use this kind of system ...

an answer from tristan68 (in french), about this :

you must use resistance (R) with good valu ...

You can't use IR led without R - One R by Led -

If you want to test quickly, without R, try to Use Leds (no IR) from PC case box with 2 AAA (but after some hours, leds will be broken because of too many intensity (I) ...)

There's a calculator on the website where you can input all this stuff and work it out. I'd definately go for two batts though.

I use two AAAs with IR LEDs and it works well and is very light. I get about 20 hours out of each set of two. Is there any particular reason you want to use a single AA?

I do use 3 IR LEDS powered from ONE AAA rechargeable battery and this setup is just fine. No problems here...

Good info. How much time do you get out of each battery approximately?
