Hi all, I'm tryng to remove the ir-filter in this webcam
but it seems to be heavy anchored to his place.
For this operation I've used a little cutter but with a minimum power the glass is almost cracked...what can I do to do it without any crack?
thnx in advance

cracked!! it wasn't the ir filter but the chip covered by glass....so I can say for sure that is impossible to remove ir filter in the hercules classic webcam because is blocked in the lens plastic tube...
....Now I must buy another one! wich webcam is right for 30€?

I don't have the exact same webcam, but mine is extremely similar and removing the IR filter is not impossible.
I'm pretty sure all these webcams are made by the same company in China and rebranded for all sorts of other companies, such as Flexiglow/CyberSnipa, Dick Smith, etc.
Looking at yours the lens assembly seems the same. So the larger disk-shaped front bit should just screw off. You'll need to remove the whole lens barrel first because you need to use a fair bit of force and a good grip since the disk-shaped bit is glued in place.
I'd suggest folding a tissue over into a long thin rectangle, wrapping that around the disk-shaped bit for grip and screwing it off (pliers didn't work for me because it bent the disk slightly making it hard to turn). Once that bit is off the IR filter should be underneath. It should just fall out, no glue.
Mine was a bitch to mod the first time but knowing how to do it it'd be quite easy the second time. I might redo mine on a new cam later. If I do that I'll post an illustrated guide since I there's a lot of these cams around.
