To understand how the WiiRemote is used, view the video by Johnny Lee, who made a demonstration program that uses the Wii Remote to do a desktop virtual reality type display.

Bluetooth is a wireless way to connect the Wii Remote and your computer. You must have bluetooth capability built into your computer, or use an external bluetooth interface to add this ability.

I am not sure how this is integrated into the FreeTrack software.  But, basically the Wii Remote has a camera and internal processor to view IR light sources and track their locations.  It transmits the video location of the IR dots to the computer.  So, in essence, using the Wii allows TrackIR to bypass the first half of their program, and immediately jump into translating the video coordinates into the information to drive the game.

Could anyone who's tried using a Wiimote please say something about what they think? I'm curious about

1) Performance, quality of tracking. Is it better than a webcam?
2) CPU usage. The manual said it would be lower than using a webcam. Is that correct?

Any feedback would be appreciated! :)

Do you have any trouble with jitter?  Mine is between 70-85.  My led's constantly pulse on the preview window (get smaller and larger).  In game my view jumps a little bit when I'm not moving my head.  I'm using the software that came with my bluetooth dongle, maybe thats the problem.  When I get home I'll have to try the latest bluesoleil.  Hopefully that will fix it.  Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the advice.  I changed my power supply out, using one from a cell phone charger.  It's a lot better but still does it some.  Any other thoughts?
