Hello , I am new in this forum. First thank for this great program to the Freetrack team! Sorry for the poor english!
I have a Trust WB1400 T camera, but the CPU usage 12-25 %, and on my config (Athlon 3200) in FS2004 this too much for me. I plan to buy a new one, but I don't know wich: Microsoft VX-1000 or VX-3000, Genius SLIM 321C. Most important characteristic the cpu usage for me, and I can' t find info from the Microsoft camera's cpu usage in this forum. I need info from above three cameras on a similar one config. Thanks ! |

Hello zkalos, i don't know about the other types of webcam, but i have
vx 1000, running at 320x240 resolution with IR filter removed. I have an Athlon 3200+ cpu (same as yours) and webcam consumes 7-11% of cpu power with realtime tracking priority set at processes tab. If you need any pictures, just let me know ok? |

Thank you for reply!
I can read in the webcam compatibility guide that the Genius SLIM 321C only use max 3% CPU ! Anybody use this camera and can give me correct info from this camera and what is mean that the field of view could be wider ,and the IR-filter removable altogether ? The VX-3000 better than VX-1000 in the CPU usage ? The SAITEK W300xv uses 1-3% too in Opteron 175 cpu , but I don't know, that Opteron 175 cpu how faster than my amd 3200 athlon ? The new Freetrack 2.2 change the cpu usage, or this is dependent on only the webcam . Help anybody please . Thanks . |

CPU usage of FreeTrack 2.2 is the same than the old one (for me ... My webcam is an very old Creative WEbCAM GO - Year 1999 - My frame rate is around 40 real FPS with new FreeTrack 2.2 at 320 x 240 I420 compressor ...)
Try to changed default compressor type (RGB 24 bits) by an another one to see CPU usage ...
Babasior.

Thank babasior for your reply.
I changed this option not once, but the cpu usage was higher a few % every time in I420 mode . I think my Trust WB1400 T camera not like this compressor mode. FS2004 a very CPU ungry program and every frame counts to me. In Falcon 4 RV this not count too many, but in FS2004 the frame rate move in the border of playing(15-20 fps),with freetrack this only 10-15 or less. Sory for the bad english. I waiting anyone who using a Genius SLIM 321C camera. Thanks ! |

Hi!
I don't know about you guys, but I find it a little hard to translate CPU usage to actual framerates. So I did a little bit of investigation in Live for Speed. My computer is definitely CPU limited in this game. I ran through the same replay twice with each setting, and used the average from these results to plot the graphs. Here are my results: As you can see, reducing the webcam resolution helped quite a lot. Also this did not seem to affect the quality of tracking at all! Highly recommendable. I'm using v2.1.2 by the way, but this shouldn't matter as the CPU usage is the same with v2.2. |

I purchased today a Microsoft VX-1000 camera and the CPU usage 1-3%.
Fantastic improvement from my previous Trust camera with 15-25%. Everyone who have problem with other cpu ungry camera , buy a Microsoft VX-1000. Don't will be dissapointed. Cheers! |
