Class : Apprenti Posts : 7 Registered on : 18/07/2008 Off line	I found ir LEDS, and was wondering if they would work? here are the specs: Emitted Colour : Infrared Size: 5mm Lens Color : Water Clear Forward Voltage (V) : 1.5~1.6 Forward Current (mA): 60mA Continuous, 120mA peak for 10% Pulse Width wavelength (nm):850 View Angle: 15-30 degree. "Freedom doesn't come Free"

Class : Electronicien en chef Posts : 651 Registered on : 10/07/2007 Off line	Hello Digger Wavelength OK. Since they're 850nm, you should see a faint red glow when the led is operating. View angle too narrow , you'll probably have to file them flat using sandpaper. Power ok , don't drive them with more than 60mA, since it's the max continuous admissible current. cya

Class : Apprenti Posts : 1 Registered on : 18/03/2008 Off line	And what do you think of Osram SFH 487 P. It has much wider angle than recommended 485 P and other specs are same. Maybe it is even better for free track than 485. Anyway, I ordered few of these and I will let you know.

Class : Electronicien en chef Posts : 651 Registered on : 10/07/2007 Off line	Hello Soko the SFH487P has a 3mm case Freetrack works better with 5mm leds, so you should better stay with SFH485P, or another 5mm IR led. cya

Class : Apprenti Posts : 7 Registered on : 18/07/2008 Off line	ok, I recieved the IR LEDs i bought on Ebay, and with Powering them with the above Specs that they came with, I get nothing, no glow, or no IR light the the freetrack picks up. I've made several head trackings units so far and never had a problem until now, I've even tried just to light one and still no good, I was wandering if i should try more or less voltage or mA to get them to light up. Please Help! "Freedom doesn't come Free"
