Hi!

My cap arrived today. It's realy great work. Nice quality. Thanks a lot.

But I'm still having some problems. First of all: I'm getting only about 12-15 FPS with my Eye Toy Cam, which is enough to get tracking work, but not enough for real smooth tracking.

And second: Do I still need the Floppy Disk Filter? If I install it in front of the camera's lens, I dont get to see any of the LEDs in Freetrack. Or are there any options to configure for it?

Greetings and very much thanks again to Marcus.

EDIT:

I removed the EyeToys internal IR-Filter. Now I can use the Floppy Disk Filter and can use Freetrack in bright rooms. Problem solved  :D

But I'm still not getting more than 15 FPS

About the low FPS: You should probably decrease your webcam's exposure. That helps a lot for me! You can turn it way down and still get excellent tracking, if you compensate by adjusting the FreeTrack threshold. Play around with it and see what you can get.

And try to disable the "antiflicker mode" or "outdoor mode", I can't recall how it is called with the Eye Toy. It's below the autoexposure in the cam settings.

Pressed "Stop Flicker" and also reduced Exposure to minimum (and adjusted the Threshold). Tracking still seems to work but it has no influence on the FPS. It's still on 15  :(

I only get more Frames if I remove the Floppy Disk Filter from lens, but then it doesn't track so well anymore, so I need the filter. Any other ideas how to increase FPS?

Try to plug your Eye Toy in an other plug.

All right guys, I got it !!!

The Problem was the EyeToy driver I used. System said it was a Namtai Eyetoy Cam, so I installed Namtai drivers and they worked at the first look.

But to solve the FPS Problem, I had to install Eyetoy drivers for another model and: 30 FPS !

Thanks for everybodys help.  :D

Hey Marcus,

I was so impressed with the design of your hat I placed an order just a little bit ago.  Any idea when you will be shipping some more out?  I'm across the line from you in North Carolina.

Look forward to trying it and FreeTrack out.  I've never used it before so hopefully I can get things setup correctly.  I'll be using it with FSX, rFactor, Race07, and a whole slew of other simulators.

Thanks,
J. Clark

Yey, got my Hat in today (17th) and I ordered on the 5th (to England), so that looks to be the leed time for shipments to Europe (12 days).

Looking forward to trying it when I get home from work tonight.

Oh, and the box got a right bashing on its trip.  Flipping transit muppets.

Edit:

Ok, I am home now and have put a 1.5V AA battery in and nothing is appearing in my webcam (MS VX-1000), even though the exposure is down low and i can only just see a red and black me in the feed.

I cant make out any spots from the IR diodes.  Do I have to remove the filter? (Dumb question!  lol)  Anyway, cricket nets is on so I will be back to try some more later.

Edit2:

Yep removing the IR filter worked as it now works really well.

Is there any sort of replacement filter to put it that recorrects the colours and stuff as they have all gone all weird like.

Not that I know of. Different webcams have different filters, so you wouldn't be able to replace one kind of filter with another. I keep my filter taped to the side of the webcam so I can put it back if I need to. I probably won't, though.

I use a logitech quickcam, and it's horrorible for anything other than freetrack. Its really not that good for freetrack either. It uses 40% of my cpu.
