I told him that he should post here in the forum and calm to everybody who ordered already?

But I only know him from that email response. I hope and pray for he will be restoring the production of the cap!

Hey everyone!

I'm still here. I've been waiting on my supplier to get me everything I needed to make the hats. They only stock 1000 leds at a time and I've ran them out twice. ;) I'm about caught up now, and I hope eveyone's ok with that.

Yes, I am open for business! I could make a visor, and have thought about it before, but, the top led will set lower and could be blocked easier by the bill when looking up. the only solution would be to put an extension in for the top led so it will sit a bit higher. Also I bulk order my hats. But if you really want one, I can make it, but you will have to wait until I order more hats. That way, I won't be spending too much on shipping and handling for one visor. It will be included with the other hats.

Just ordered mine earlier today.  Now... I just have to find a way to keep myself occupied until it arrives.  Thank goodness for fantasy football and work!  Thanks in advance for the hats!

Marcus, I would suggest that you add a visible LED to allow the user to know that it is on and working.

Also, I don't see a battery listed.  What kind, and size of battery do you use?

Finally, a light suggestion, which may be viable and low cost, depending on your manufacturing process.  If you also add set of Visible LED's, each paired with one of the IR LED's, the the hat might also be used as a Flashlight hat.  You don't even need to add a new set of wires if you attach the 2nd set of LED's backwards, and then put a DPDS switch which would allow you to change the polarity of the wiring.

Just placed my order now that Marcus is back.  I can hardly wait to get this hat and try it out.

Now I need to buy one of the webcams that is on the compatibility list.  :)

They use AA 1.5 volt batteries. And thanks for the suggestion!

I bought the Microsoft Lifecam VX100. As per read here in the forums is an excellent webcam for free-track and it seems 100% compatible withe Marcus Cap.

Also, the logitech quick cam im works well, but the ir filter is embeded in the photo-collector on the board, so you have to break it out very carefully after unscrewing the lens cap housing. I did this for my old man (he's 50 now, and yet loves fsx)... His works much more responsive than my old quick cam. Needless to say I'm jealous. ;)

Marcus young man - someone above is asking how long the caps last - tell him please, I have had mine in almost daily usage since June / July and it's still booming.

And, I'm 53 and still able to control the thing - there is life after 50, trust me ya young bugger.

You know it's on because you just set it up in Free-Track - don't complicate the thing.

The led's them selves last at least a 100,000 hours of use. The weakest part of the system is at the connections where the battery housing wires couple to the front assembly. That connection's life span depends on how well you take care of the cap. How ever long those connections last, it will be easily repairable if a wire comes loose. With proper care, the system should easily last a couple of years at least, as long as you don't ball up the cap all the time or anything like that.

To zoetrope:

I don't think being in your 50's is old at all! But my pop will always be my old man! :)

P.S. I'm taking my first off ground VFR lesson tomorrow, if weather permits. Can't wait!!!!!!!!
