Uh... you have quad-core cpu and you're worried about one webcam + freetrack?
Let me put it this way,
I'm running freetrack (3 cap) + logitech quickcam pro 5000 on the following setup:
Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 ("OC'd" to 2,55 GHz from 2,1GHz)
6 GB RAM
and so on...
In my tests, Freetrack process takes up about 1-3 % of my cpu time when minimized. When maximized, it's around 3-8%. That's it. I doubt you'll have any issues with cpu speed, given that you have plenty of cores where those processes can run on free without interfering with say, the game you're running.
