After I installed Freetrack and tried to load up IL2 my view would snap the right and I was unable to use my mouse to look away, it was locked.  If I changed cameras to a third person and it snaps to a certain angle and I can't move it.

I'm not using freetrack to look around in IL2 yet as I haven't finished everything.  In fact it isn't even running in the background.  Yet when I experimented a bit, uninstall Freetrack set my viewing back to normal.  Installing, once again snapped it the right.

I've done a search and found nothing of this problem.  Anyone have a solution?

are you using mouse emulation in freetrack and/or have newview installed?

both are a bad idea when trying to use freetrack with il-2.

I don't have newview installed, and I'm not sure about the mouse emulation option.  The thing is Freetrack just needs to be installed on my HD for this to happen, it was never running in the background or anything.

sounds like something is happening with your NPClient.dll file, maybe some other program trying to do something with it or so.

Could be interesting to see if you have any other NPClient.dll on your hdd, maybe you do an F3 search for that filename? (this is just blind guessing on my part though, please don't blame me if you wasted your time)

Ya well if I gotta wait the 10 seconds it takes to find the file and its not there I'm gonna be real pissed.

What would I have to do with it if it's there?

I usually don't double post, but this could use a bump.  If anyone is having the problem with the lack of viewing ability in IL2 after free track install, then just go into your IL2 conf.ini file and find UseTrackIR=1 and change it to 0 until your ready to use it.  You will now be able to look freely without any bugging.

the search for NPClient.dll would show you all places where you have installed something trackir-related. could be trackIR, could be a game, could be a trackIR-emulation like freetrack or newview.

sounds really suspicious that you have to _disable_ the IL2 trackIR software interface in order to use freetrack, which uses the trackIR software interface as the primary means of headtracker->game connection.

Hello Fatboy

You mean with freetrack, i presume. It should just switch off head tracking in IL2 , so you can use mouselook again.

right ?

To use FT in IL2, you have to do the following :

- ensure your FT is installed properly (if unsure , reinstall it)
- test and adjust your settings , so the head move correctly in the cam view
- in the output tab , select trackir mode only
- program a center hotkey and an enable hotkey (i usually use CTL F12 for centering, and CTL F11 for enabling)

In IL2 :
- enable trackiruse in conf.ini
- start IL2
- jump in your plane
- VERY IMPORTANT : LOOK AT THE CENTER OF YOUR SCREEN AND HIT CENTER KEY
(IL2 often starts with views snapped to a side. If it's the case , you can't use FT until you centered view).

that should do the trick.

cya

Wich key is "enable"? Or do you mean "pause" FT?

And: "in the output tab , select trackir mode only" you mean "Direct game Interface" right?

You need to assign the keys in FreeTrack's Controls tab.

And: "in the output tab , select trackir mode only" you mean "Direct game Interface" right?

Yeah, that's what it's called in 2.1.

enable (or "pause" as it is called in some versions iirc, just look for a key setting that is about switching head tracking on and off, no matter how exactly it is called) is optional, freetrack is activated once you hit "start".

the important key is the recenter key: if the view does not center when you hit recenter you have something wrong in your system configuration.
