I have just 10 minutes ago (UK 9.00pm) got Freetrack working with my own homemade 3 point which is cable shrunk to a pair of speatacles with no lenses, usb powered IR LED from OSARAM twin 21 inch monitors running two Saitek joysticks and the virtual joystick on XPSP2, FSX and acceleration pack.

Well wow what fun, again thanks guys it makes the simulator experience a lot easier and more realistic.

Time will now be spent on customising the settings.  GetZOOM in out wrong and your either 100 feet behind the Aircraft or two hundred feet in front. It shows how little movement you need to get the views required.

The question is simple can I make changes in Freetrack realtime without having to come out of FSX or can I just alt/tab adjust and Freetrack automatically updates FSX.

thanks again would be more than happy to help with a donation paypal possibly

Just put FSX into a small window so that you can customize FT settings in real time. Keep in mind that tracking is best when FT is minimized.

How do you enable Freetrack in FSX?

Enable the FSX output option in FreeTrack. You don't need to do anything in FSX besides use the virtual cockpit.

How can I enable support for FSX in Freetrack?

I'm looking in "Output" section but there is only an option for "FS2004\FS2002 (FSUIPC)"

Actually, when I start FSX, freetrack doens't seems to be live!

Can you post a screenshot?

"Flight Simulator X (SimConnect)" option should be to the left of "FS2004\FS2002 (FSUIPC)"

You had me confused there, what you really mean is the option IS there, it's just that it's not enabled. The option will only be enabled when SimConnect is installed.

Go to your add/remove programs list and make sure you can find:
"Microsoft Flight Simulator SimConnect Client"

FSX installation can be complex, full of numerous tricks and traps. Try to follow an online guide closely so that everything is correctly installed and patched.

@stephen

Have you been able to fix the zoom issue?

I'm having the same problem, and i could so far only limit it, but not fix it completly (Changed Translation curve end to round about 5).

Is there an option maybe in fsx i'm missing to allow the virtual head not to leave the plane? Or other options in freetrack, or an freetrac fsx profile available for download somewher?

thx,

b.

I don't think the FS team have bothered using a cockpit clipping box yet.

So a limit of 5 keeps your head in the cockpit? Does this apply to the majority of cockpits? If so I'll reduce the internal SimConnect sensitivities accordingly.

Had the zooming issue also but I managed to almost get rid of it. I used the Flacon 4_OF 4dots profile and changed the Z sensivity to 1, smoothing to 63 and Zoom smoothing multiplyer to 23.

Thanks Luca.
I copied the 3 SimConnect related files from FSX Install DVD 1 - SxS folder, to my Windows\System32 folder and I'm not able to connect to FSX again.

I came across this problem after unistalling and then reinstalling FSX, and then FSX Acceleration Pack.
