hmmm strange
with enablebutton you have to do this 1. Set auto exposure on (default) and exposure value to 0 (or a little higher). 2. Place a bright light source, like a lamp, in the field of view of the camera so that it reaches 30fps. 3. Disable auto exposure with one of the enable button apps. 4. Switch the light off, the camera should still be producing 30fps and will continue to do so while the exposure settings are not changed. but if you got it your way... cheers |

It is important to clarify that AE doesn't just seem to be disabled, it IS being disabled, but only temporarily for the current video stream, which may be good enough for some people. You want to go an extra step further and get the AE setting to stick across video streams.

http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=663 On my Logitech Quickcam Express, the Force Exposure->Camera Control Interface does not allow exposure to be manually adjusted but does allow auto exposure to be disabled if set to a value of 0 or 1 (the only valid values). AE is not disabled while a stream is running but will be permanently disabled when it is restarted (but the AE setting is remembered on this camera anyway). So for cameras that only partially support the Camera Control Interface (no manual exposure control) it may still be useful for disabling AE every time a new stream is started. A random Google search yielded this comment: "VX1000: It has manual settings but the manual exposure doesn't seem to go manual. But I've found a solution to that. Put the exposure on 0. If you try it in normal light It will go really weird. But with lights and everything the exposure never changes" This corresponds with Gizzmo's post #26, larockonoli and Tankbuster. |

Thanks Kestrel. Are there any cam adjustments (perhaps something I'm missing) that can recreate the positive effects of extra room light, or is exposure the only one we should be focusing on?
To my knowledge I've tried everything else... AE tick box disable, exposure adjustments after launching FT, hours testing settings, force exposure, flash the cam... all with same result. With ambient room light 30FPS is normal, in darker room FPS starts at 30 and rolls down to 24 quickly. I'm using IR-LEDs if that matters. They are powered by AC-adapter. Parasitic light filter is floppy disk. Thank You. |

Update - I've got my 30FPS back, in all light conditions.
Strange ways things happen... see if this makes sense. I had system crash that for some reason completely FUBARED Freetrack. Deleted .ini and started over... and there was my 30FPS. I unticked AE several days ago and left it unticked to test. Would starting a fresh .ini with current AE settings make a difference? New .ini also defaults to RGB, and I'd been running i420... it seems backwards, but would that help??? Whatever it is/was, so far so good..... |
