Does FreeTrack support DV camcorders connected via IEEE 1394?  I have a Canon camcorder that would offer excellent quality, if there was a way to hook it up to FreeTrack.

Btw, this is a really cool project you guys have going here.  I like the price.   : D

Cheers!

Windows XP recognizes nearly every DV Cam natively without installing any drivers.
Problem could be DV cams IR filters, if they are any
and i dont know how high the framerate of the transmitted stream is i guess 24fps or sths like that
i will try that out

I'm actually trying to get it to work as of right now.

I don't have a proper webcam, and the actual feed from the DV cam is perfect, BUT because it exports at a full un-compressed resolution, it forces FreeTrack to think, so in the end, I get a good tracking, but with an average of 3 FPS.
And these measly 3 FPS take up 55% of my 2.6GHZ processor

A solution would be to use an additional driver type system such as WebCamMax but it doesn't work for me because I'm on Xp 64-bit. SO for now, I'm pretty much screwed out of $30 for a webcam, that is, unless someone figures out some alternative drivers :) (Hint, Hint)

Uncompressed is normal. Do you know the video codec and resolution?

The codec is probably DV Raw.
and the resolution is 720x480

Either way, I figured it out, turns out having the camera display open forces it to render all that video, which makes it hard on everything, soon as I changed to a different tab in the program, it went phyco with the FPS, BUT at the same time, aoll "Tracking" persay was gone, it's just lock up in a corner.

Sadly, soon as I realized this, before I could adjust the sensitivity, my Middle LED decided to go bust, now it glows so dimly that I can;t see it with the naked eye(I can see the other ones) and the camera BARELY sees it, like BARELY point blank.

Now comes the big problem,

I'm only 14, the nearest electronics store is 30 mins away, Mom won;t drive me, and I doubt dad'll be too thrilled to hear me needing a ride for 3 LED's.

My paypal account only has $1.77CAD Left(~$1.50 US) and I wanna redo my whole rig, anyone know of a site that supports paypal that'll ship out 3 IR LED's for $1.50?
