Hello,

since i'm completely new and basically borderline brainless when it comes to electronical stuff, i thought it might be easier asking, just to make sure.

I found my cheap PS3 Eye Cam already, so no problems there i suppose, but now it's about building the 3 dot clip. I found the LEDs cheap (http://uk.farnell.com/osram/sfh485p/ir-emitter-880nm-5mm-radial/dp/1212738) - but i have no idea exactly where to start now.

I'm about to order 6mm wide carbon fibre tubing, the LEDs, and.. well, that's where i'm stuck. I don't know what kind of/how many batteries i can and/or should use, and/or the resistors needed. Since the LEDs have 1.5v each, do i need to use batteries with a total of 4.5v (3*1.5v) each?

Can someone dumb it down enough for me to understand? Would a 9V block battery be easier to use?

I "know" i kinda need to use resistors of some sort, but i need to know what batteries i'm using before i can use the Assembly Wizard.

I know all this was probably asked a thousand times already, i would still appreciate the help. :/

Cheers

Hi,

You can go for this one:

...or the power supply version, (you can find it in the same thread).
Batteries don't live very long with these LEDs.

Watch out to well isolate your soldered LEDs inside the carbon tubes, carbon fibre is a good conductor.
